Project Overview

For my Final Year Project, I worked with my team to redesign the Materials Innovation Hub (MIHub) at Republic Polytechnic. We proposed an interactive wall decal design and refreshed the space that encourages learning, all while making the environment engaging for students, staff, and passers-by.

20th July 2026

Mood Board

Developed a moodboard that established the visual direction of the redesigned MIHub space. The concept focused on sustainability, warm wood finishes, and a cohesive colour palette that complemented the existing environment while creating a welcoming learning atmosphere.

7th July 2026

Top View Rendering

Produced a realistic top-view rendering that translated the proposed layout into a clear visual representation, allowing the client to better understand the space, furniture placement, and overall design concept.

3rd December 2025

Wall Decal Colour Development

Applied the project’s colour palette to the initial wall decal concept, exploring how colours could enhance the visual identity while maintaining consistency with the overall design direction.

Wall Decal - Refined Design Concept

Proposed an alternative wall decal layout that improved the visual flow and cohesion of the design while retaining the project's core concept. This version was presented alongside other concepts to provide the client with additional design options.

Reflection

This project taught me the importance of communication, collaboration, and accepting feedback throughout the design process. Working with my teammates and clients helped me understand that different perspectives can strengthen a design. I also learned to manage my time more effectively, especially after receiving feedback during our midpoint presentation. Overall, this experience improved both my design skills and my confidence in working on real client projects.
